I’m drunk. Oops
Part 1
This is a story documenting my relationship with a friend. It’s been a roller coaster ride with the highest of highs, and the lowest of lows. There’s been unexpected twists, turns, and I’ve been thrown for a number of loops. This roller coaster ride is special though, it has no end. Well, there isn’t a sudden stop at least. I’m not sure where to begin telling this story, but I guess the best place to start would be at the beginning. This story starts long before I even step foot in line to ride this never ending roller coaster.
His name is Kyle Stevens. Kyle isn’t just your ordinary guy though. There’s something special about him that makes him tick. I guess there’s something special that makes everyone tick, but you need a very special key to wind this clock. I knew he was a little bit, off (for lack of a better word) from the moment I met him. When I look back on everything, I had no idea things would progress the way they did. I guess that’s the way it always works though. No one ever expects the unexpected.
The very first encounter I had with Kyle was in April of 2007, when I was only fifteen years old. I was at a Punchline, The Fold, Permanent Me, and The Graduate show at a venue called The Grog Shop, just outside of Cleveland. Kyle’s band, Awake The Dawn, was the opening act. My friends, Jen, Kasey, Allison, and I were standing inside near the stage when Kyle approached us. He said to us “Hey, do any of you ladies have deodorant?” The four of us just gave him a weird look. He then said “I forgot to put some on this morning.” All of us said no, and he replied with “Girls don’t carry deodorant in that thing they bring everywhere?” So that was my first impression of Kyle Stevens, a boy in a band who asks random girls for deodorant when he forgets to put some on. I ended up running into Kyle again at another show about a month later. It was at Pirates Cove in Cleveland. We were seeing Permanent Me, Holiday Parade, and The Years Gone By. This was the last time I saw him for a year or so.
